About the Firm
- Our client is a Mumbai based well-funded early stage Ed-Tech start- up backed by Nexus Venture Partners, Omidyar Network. The firm is a 1:1 online tutoring platform for coding, Robotics and Space technology curriculum.


The Scenario
- The firm was at a unique stage where they had to attract seasoned leadership talent who can help them become the fastest unicorn. The vision was to be one of the leading global firms in coding, space technology and robotics space.
The Challenge
Strategic Intervention
- The firm was at a very nascent stage with a limited but successful operation. The Ed tech sector was already hot and there were big names who were successfully operating from some time.
- Deep dive on client's requirements for an in-depth understanding of their strategic goals and objectives.
- The firm had raised Series A which was not very significant hence branding and creating the proposition was one of the biggest challenges. Prior to engaging us, our client had worked with many other consultants hence the pool was over exposed. So our next challenge was to navigate through the limited capacity to find the right talent. Moreover, the firm was only looking for candidates from the premium college ( IIT and IIM ) which further limited the pool.
- We followed a detailed process of industry mapping, identifying target companies and top talent who had proven credential of building a Unicorn. We engaged candidates with a No Name strategy to understand their motivation. It resulted in building immediate rapport leading to assessment of their strengths and alignment.
- Then came the mega challenge, while working on the proposition Covid-19 struck India and Mumbai being the epicentre relocating candidates became an uphill task., rapid evolvement of the EdTech industry, with newer, digital-first startups was gaining prominence. Leaders driving aggressive expansion were needed.
- We created a strong pitch book of the client’s proposition and our SMEs represented that to engage these extremely successful candidates. With continuous engagement our consultants created convincing strategies to onboard and align the candidates to the client’s proposition.channel approach and our extensive network, we attracted top leaders with proven success in scaling established businesses.
Outcome
- All the searches were completed within the timeline and desired budget. We on-boarded key leaders who had played a business propellor role in the past and built Unicorns. Veda’s strategic value addition included market intelligence and competition strategies gathered during the research and discussion. We also helped our client to engage with few senior seasoned professionals who were willing to work with them as advisor/ consultants. Our professional approach and methodology was appreciated by the client. It resulted in Veda becoming their preferred partner for leadership hiring and we continue to build their talent capacity.
